Working with natural materials, bare feet on the ground, using my body and hands, is a raw and intimate process. It makes me feel that I am truly alive and is also a way to cherish memories of lost loved ones. Moons covered in shadow grow into new and full moons over and over again shining and reflecting light into dark skies.
Halona is made by Babette Leertouwer. Babette developed her love for the outdoors early on in life, at her grandmothers farm. She still enjoys the back to basic way of life and care for plants and animals. Babette’s grandmother taught her to be sustainable in the old-fashioned way. Crumbs were collected and used to make a dish, items were always repaired instead of being thrown away.
Babette studied at Amsterdam Fashion Institute for Design & Styling.
The T-shirt products of Halona are made in a social workplace.
